The Washington County Sheriff's Office is recruiting forJail Services Technician Ipositions. In this role, you will perform a variety of administrative jail services dutiesrequiring extensive adults in-custody contactrelated to booking and custody support functions. This position will also perform tasks associated with electronically monitoring and controlling jail access and adults in custody movements within the county jail.

This position works within a 24-hour per day, 7-days-per-week facility. Jail Services Technician I and II positions MUST be available to work all assigned shifts including day, swing, and/or graveyard schedules on any day of the week, and MUST be willing to work on holidays and weekends.

Department of Motor Vehicle Records (DMV) Requirement:

Working Conditions and Environment:
Employees in this classification work in a variety of indoor security settings for a 24-hour-facility, which includes restricted access control centers, property storage rooms, public access lobby or open area where inmates are processed into the jail. Work is often near other people with little space between self and others resulting in an environment with increased exposure to communicable diseases, and sound or noise levels that can be distracting and uncomfortable. Positions in this classification involve a high level of social interaction, includingdaily contact with adults in custody, jail staff, contracted service providers, and members of the public.Interaction with adults in custody and members of the public includes encountering individuals who can potentially be angry or unpleasant.

Selection Process:
1. Apply today!Instead of submitting a resume, we ask that you complete and submit an online application, which will be used to screen for minimum qualifications (MQs) and to determine starting pay in accordance with the provision of the Oregon Equal Pay Law.
2. Minimum Qualification Review:Human Resources will screen applications for MQs after the position closes.
3. Subject Matter Expert Review:Your responses to the supplemental questions will be evaluated and scored by a panel of subject matter experts. Your total score for this examination will affect your placement on the eligible list (a list of candidates eligible for interviews).
4.Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ)- You will have 17 days to complete this in-depth background packet.
5. Panel Interview(s):The top scoring candidates will be invited to participate in a panel interview.
6. Pre-Suitability:Candidates who pass the panel Interview will be invited to complete the Pre-Suitability Test, which evaluates an applicant's characteristics and match for this profession.
7. Background Investigation & Job Shadow:Candidates who pass pre-suitability will proceed to a thorough Background Investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office, which takes approximately 6-8 weeks to complete. During this time, candidates will be invited to participate in a job shadow with a Jail Services Technician.
8. Commander Interview:Candidates who pass the background investigation will be invited to a command interview.
9. Conditional-Offer of Employment: Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and psychological evaluation.
10.Offer of Appointment:Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment.
