Contract Aluminum Welder
Location: Vancouver, WA 98661
Pay: $31/hour + $150 per diem (7 days/week)
Contract Length: Up to 2 years
We are hiring skilled Aluminum Welders for the Maneuver Support Vessel (MSV) program—an ongoing, 10‑year project to build 32 vessels for the U.S. Army. These vessels are designed to transport heavy military vehicles, and this role offers a long-term, stable opportunity within a major government-supported contract. Weld testing will take place in Vancouver, WA. Contractors may remain on the project for the full 2-year duration based on performance.

Airfare and lodging are not covered and must be paid out of pocket.
Weld test scheduling available 1–3 weeks in advance.
Responsibilities
Perform high-quality aluminum welding and fabrication in multiple positions
Interpret blueprints and follow precise welding specifications
Execute MIG welding (required); pulse arc welding preferred
Weld large aluminum structures both in-position and out-of-position
Maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of aluminum welding experience (MIG or TIG)
Ability to clearly describe past work experience
Must successfully pass the weld test
Pulse arc experience and multi-position proficiency strongly preferred
Work Environment & Shift
Work in a clean, modern fabrication shop specializing in aluminum structures
Projects support government infrastructure including:
Bridges
Dams
Nuclear sites
Boats & barges
Day Shift: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Weld Test Details
Uphill beads in 3G and 4G using MIG (3/64" wire) to D1.2 standards (pulse arc)
Weld 5" aluminum plates (3/8" thick) with V‑groove, open back
Test includes visual inspection and break test to failure

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
