Start Date: Immediate
Hours: 12.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 2:30-5:00 p.m.

Position Summary

FI is seeking energetic, responsible, and creative Part-Time Student Monitors to join our Extended Learning team. Student Monitors supervise FI students during Aftercare and other optional programs, ensuring a safe, fun, and engaging environment. Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude are imperative to succeed in this role. This is a part-time, on-campus position. Student Monitors may also have the opportunity to participate in ACE (Arts and Cultural Enrichment) Week, Summer Camps, and other special programs. Engagement in these optional programs is not guaranteed and the discretion of the Extended Learning Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Safety

  • Uphold safety and provide close supervision of students at all times.
  • Supervise students after school during the Aftercare program.
  • Provide snacks and assist with transitions to Afterschool Explorer classes and pickup areas.
  • Provide coverage for Teachers and Teacher Assistants between end-of-school and Aftercare periods.
Program Support & Engagement
  • Plan and facilitate fun, engaging activities for Aftercare, ACE Week, Summer Camps, and other programs as needed.
  • Attend department meetings and in-service day trainings, when available.
  • Help maintain safe, clean, and organized classrooms.
  • Support students in resolving conflicts through accountable talk and positive guidance.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Establish, sustain, and encourage a positive and safe rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Communicate professionally and collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student information.
  • Maintain all required trainings and compliance responsibilities per DELC standards.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in childcare and/or educational settings.
  • Flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Physical mobility sufficient to ensure the safety of children.
  • Employment contingent upon successful enrollment in the Office of Child Care's Central Background Registry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
  • Fluency in French or another language besides English.
  • Interest in international education and experience living abroad and/or working in a multilingual environment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position includes physical activity, such as walking and standing for up to 1.5 hours at a time, bending, stooping, kneeling, running, sitting on the floor, and occasionally lifting children. Student supervision occurs predominantly outdoors in all seasons; therefore, Student Monitors will often perform duties in cold and wet weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting at $19.00/hour, depending on experience (DOE)
  • 403(b) retirement plan.
