Job Description
The City of Camas Finance Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Assistant - Payroll. This position reports to the Finance Director.
The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The position is represented by the Camas Public Employees Association (CPEA) and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes family and domestic partner benefits such as medical, dental, and vision. Retirement benefits are provided through Washington State Retirement System. Other benefits include life insurance, paid holidays, accrued vacation time, and sick time. Salary posted is for 2025 and are currently under negotiation.
Job Duties
This position will focus on payroll functions by processing the City's payroll, including wage or salary increases, change of benefits and deductions, and prepare required reports, checks and direct deposit stubs. Additionally, this position will reconcile benefit billings, remit payments to appropriate agencies, as well as monitor leave balances. This position is also the lead subject matter expert for the City's Payroll module.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for this position shall have:
- Education to the equivalent to the completion of two years of college level coursework in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field
- Two years of increasingly responsible clerical and technical accounting experience
- Advanced Excel and database management skills
- Previous experience in governmental accounting and payroll
