Nutrition Services Assistant -.25FTE (2 Hours/Day) -Hayhurst Elementary School

Posting Timeline: Applications are reviewed regularly. The work year for this position starts in August and continues through June, with summers off, and follows the district calendar.

Schedule: 2 hours per day (school days only)

Location: Hayhurst Elementary School - 5037 SW Iowa St

Pay: $20.06 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for PPS students.
• Providing excellent customer service.
• Cashiering and handling cash transactions with student customers.
• Ability to handle food safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining a sanitary environment at all times.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

What you bring

• You're able to work quickly and efficiently following verbal and written instructions.
• You're able to lift up to 50 lbs.; push or pull 70-100 lbs.; use a full range of motion at standard height work stations; able to follow employee dress code.
• You're able to receive directions in English over the phone and at the work site.
• You're able to work with money and make change while serving.
• You'll maintain a current Multnomah County Food Handler's Certification (not required at time of hire but needed in order to begin work).
• You have basic computer skills and the ability to work with a computerized cash register.
• You're willing to travel to all schools throughout the district.

Preferably:

• You enjoy cooking and working with kids and students in grades Pre-K to 12th grade.
• You have experience working with children, school staff, and Nutrition Services employees
• You have experience cooking in a commercial kitchen

What we offer

• Pay : $20.06/per hour
• Schedule: August to June (170 days per year) when school is in session for students following the district calendar.
