Role Overview

The Pet Associate (Retail Sales Specialist) is crucial in delivering exceptional experiences for pet parents and their pets while upholding our values and mission. You'll also help ensure our store is clean, well-maintained, and meets pet safety standards while caring for pets within our store.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with pet parents both in-person and remotely to enhance their shopping experience.
• Greet customers and address their inquiries throughout the store.
• Prepare online orders for in-store pickup and ensure a seamless pickup experience.
• Care for store-owned pets, including their feeding, watering, and cleaning of habitats.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store.
• Assist with weekly pricing adjustments and monthly promotions.
• Organize and display new products according to sales floor plans.
• Restock and arrange products to meet sales display standards.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on products, services, and live pets.
• Administer medication to store-owned pets as prescribed by our vet.
• Promote special events such as adoption weekends and various charity initiatives.
• Ensure a safe environment for all associates, pets, and customers.
• Act promptly if a sick or injured pet is identified and transport them to a vet if necessary.
• Support various store areas as needed and undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Participate in fostering a culture of belonging and recognition.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to manage pressure and maintain composure.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Stand, walk, and climb ladders regularly and utilize hands for various tasks. Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, and talking required. Clear vision, including depth perception, is essential.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally may require team lifting of over 100 pounds.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, and moderate noise levels. Interaction with live animals is common.
