Labor Union Negotiation Specialist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and strategic Labor Union Negotiation Specialist to spearhead significant bargaining and field campaigns focused on the priorities of public employees and care providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and develop the union's bargaining program to effectively address the needs of our members.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of bargaining issues to create impactful, long-lasting solutions for Oregon's workforce.
  • Implement strategic campaign plans in partnership with Department and Program Directors.
  • Guide and support organizers in achieving campaign milestones and objectives.
  • Lead a dedicated team in executing strategic plans and campaigns.
  • Direct negotiations for collective bargaining agreements, including contract ratification and work action preparations.
  • Provide training for bargaining teams, union stewards, and leadership development.
  • Manage contract interpretation, grievance procedures, and prepare arbitration cases while ensuring effective communication for organizing and political action.

Political Engagement:

  • Participate in grassroots political activities such as door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and issue advocacy campaigns.
  • Mobilize and inform members about critical issues and candidates through targeted voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in organizing, bargaining, contract administration, and political action.
  • Strong background in project management.
  • Demonstrated work history with state agencies.
  • Skillful in collaborating with member leaders to enact union initiatives.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including database management, with a valid driver's license and current insurance.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Working Environment:

This position requires occasional lifting and physical activity, along with both office and field work that involves travel throughout the state, which may include overnight stays. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with flexibility for weekend assignments based on job requirements.

Compensation and Benefits:

Our comprehensive benefits package includes fully covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents, as well as domestic partner benefits, generous holiday and vacation policies, and a 15% employer-contributed 401K plan. The annual salary range is $74,964 - $112,596, commensurate with experience.
