Job Summary: The Custodial Public Spaces Attendant plays a key role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of hotel public areas, laundry facilities, and exterior grounds. Responsibilities include cleaning lobbies and restrooms, assisting with laundry operations, preparing rooms for guest check-ins, and addressing urgent maintenance situations promptly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize all public areas such as lobbies, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and other shared spaces.
  • Wash, dry, and fold laundry to support housekeeping operations efficiently.
  • Assist the housekeeping team with preparing guest rooms for check-in.
  • Keep exterior grounds tidy by picking up trash, emptying trash cans, clearing walkways, cleaning the dumpster area, and sweeping entryways.
  • Monitor common areas for safety hazards and escalate issues to management.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies such as fire alarms, water leaks, or electrical outages.
  • Use cleaning products and tools in a safe and trained manner.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks like changing light bulbs or unclogging drains as trained.
  • Complete other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous custodial or housekeeping experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Employment is subject to E-Verify verification.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty.
  • Be punctual, dependable, and available for scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and report safety concerns immediately.
  • Communicate respectfully with guests and team members.
  • Be adaptable to changing priorities and take initiative to identify areas needing attention.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to achieve property goals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift/move up to 25 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, and lifting.
  • Ability to detect odors to help maintain a safe environment.
  • Vision abilities must include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
