Patient Care Technician - Providence Portland Medical Center

Full-time, Day shift (3, 12 hour shifts from 7am-7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays).

PCT duties (after on-the-job training):

  • 1:1 patient observation for suicide prevention, elopement, or prevention of medical device dislodgement
  • Hygiene care: bathing, brushing teeth, toileting, urinary and fecal incontinence care
  • Bladder scanning
  • Walking patients
  • Vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation measurements)
  • Assistant with feeding
  • Participate in Basic Life Saving (BLS) interventions

Under direct supervision this position is accountable to the bedside RN and charge nurse to facilitate a safe and secure environment for the patient, family and providers in the department in completion of the duties assigned to them for the shift and maintaining clear communication between the needs of the patient through the RN and Charge Nurse. These activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment which facilitates patient focused care.

Required qualifications:

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Medical Terminology Course or or equivalent education/experience.
  • Successful completion of hospital Medical terminology test within 90 days of hire.
  • 6 months of Health care experience.
