We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Payroll Accountant to join our finance team. ** Responsibilities**

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing using advanced payroll software and accounting systems such as PeopleSoft, Xero, or QuickBooks, ensuring timely and accurate payments for all employees.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts regularly, including bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation, to maintain financial integrity.
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct detailed account analysis and account reconciliation for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial accounts associated with payroll activities.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing reports related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, tax filings, and other statutory obligations.
  • Assist in auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations for payroll-related transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to optimize payroll expenses and improve financial management strategies.
  • Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial report writing.

** Qualifications**

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in corporate accounting with a focus on payroll processing and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, SOX compliance standards, and governmental accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential for data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll and employee compensation; experience with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) or securities law is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
