Sheet Metal Installer
Pay Rate: $27–$32/hour

Job Overview
This role involves fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal components aboard marine vessels. The Sheet Metal Installer will build and install ventilation systems, bulkheads, lockers, furniture, and other structural elements while maintaining high standards of precision, quality, and safety. The position requires the ability to read blueprints, operate various hand and power tools, and work efficiently in demanding shipyard environments.
Key Responsibilities
Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal components on ships and marine vessels
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
Perform layout, cutting, bending, and joining of metal with accuracy
Operate hand and power tools including shears, press brakes, and welding equipment
Ensure all work meets strict quality, accuracy, and safety standards
Work in confined and physically demanding spaces while maintaining focus and productivity
Collaborate with other trades and departments to meet project timelines
Essential Skills
Strong experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation
Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
Proficiency with hand and power tools, including shears, press brakes, and welding equipment
Knowledge of ductwork installation and HVAC systems
Additional Qualifications
Prior experience working in a shipyard or marine environment
Physical stamina and comfort working in tight or strenuous conditions

Work Environment
The role is based onsite at shipyards in NW Portland. Work will take place both outdoors and inside marine vessels. Candidates should be prepared for cold, dark, and variable conditions depending on the season.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
