We're supporting a growing independent creative and digital agency seeking a seasoned Head of Accounts to lead client partnerships, drive account growth, and mentor a high-performing account organization. This role blends business development, operational leadership, talent development, and executive-level client relationship management.

Title: Head of Accounts

Job type: FTE Opportunity - Salary Based

Schedule: 40 hours a week, M-F

Location: Portland, OR - Hybrid - 3 days onsite



Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow a portfolio of large, multi‑channel client accounts.
  • Shape and execute growth strategy across existing partnerships and RFP-based new business efforts (not cold-calling).
  • Oversee a 15+ person account team including Account Directors and producers.
  • Manage budgets exceeding $10M, including SOW reviews, forecasting, and commercial planning.
  • Strengthen senior client relationships, assess account health, and identify opportunities for expanded service offerings.
  • Partner with leadership across strategy, creative, and operations to deliver high-quality, integrated work.
  • Drive team structure, career development, and performance processes that support scale.
  • Contribute to agency-wide planning and leadership initiatives.


Requirements:


  • Strong business development background, specifically creating and presenting RFPs and pitch decks.
  • Agency experience (required), ideally paired with some in‑house or brand-side exposure.
  • A grounded, collaborative leadership style that builds trust with cross-functional partners, teams, and clients.



Preferred Background

  • 12+ years leading enterprise-level client accounts within a digital, creative, or integrated agency environment.
  • 8+ years managing teams and growing multidisciplinary account organizations.
  • Proven track record of driving profitable revenue growth and client retention.
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, creative development, and omni-channel campaign work.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and executive presence under pressure.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
