Job Summary

This part-time position will handle Back of House duties at the Pilot House during the Fall/Spring semesters. (May also be required to execute the duties of this position at other locations on campus as needed.) Position will report to a Bon Appétit Supervisor.

Core Duties

  • Assist in food preparation and service at cafe stations through meal periods
  • Assist culinary staff in the kitchen with food prep, batch cooking, and special events
  • Prepare breads, rolls, pastry, and desserts for daily operation
  • Assist in daily cleaning tasks in the kitchen and on the cafe stations
  • Assist culinary staff with proper food storage and safety controls
  • Assist in restocking of dishes on service line as time allows.
  • Sort, wash, and store dishes for the operation
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restaurant equipment and dishes
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess the ability to meet Bon Appétit unit specific uniform standards for this position
  • Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per Bon Appétit guidelines
  • Wear a cut-resistant glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument
  • Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations
  • Must possess or obtain current Oregon Food Handler Card

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred, not required.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently bend, stoop and perform extensive walking
  • Exert well-paced mobility to move from different areas of facility as service and production demands require
  • Occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of lifting force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects
  • Wear a cut-resistant glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument
