In this role, you'll provide customer-service-focused security during events, helping ensure the safety of guests, artists, and staff while also serving as a friendly and professional ambassador for our venues. This position offers flexible, variable hours based on event needs and will not exceed 32 hours per week. Responsibilities include monitoring facilities, assisting guests, responding to incidents, and helping prevent safety concerns such as trespass, vandalism, theft, fire, or other potential risks.

As the Relief Facility Security Agent you will:

  • Patrol assigned facilities on foot, ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff, and performers.
  • Observe, investigate, and respond to suspicious activity or incidents, taking appropriate action.
  • Operate security systems, including CCTV, building access, alarms, and lights, and complete related reports.
  • Respond to emergencies, contact appropriate services, and provide clear information while maintaining accurate incident records.
  • Assist in evacuations, crowd control, and directing medical or emergency personnel as needed.
  • Provide first aid or medical assistance when required and call for help as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal records and, when necessary, for law enforcement or court proceedings.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors and team members, including radio use during shifts.
  • Fulfill Metro's core competencies of public service, cultural humility, teamwork, accountability, openness to change and effective communication.
  • Work evening and weekend shifts as necessary for business needs and events.
  • Perform assigned duties during an emergency situation.

TO QUALIFY

Minimum qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, and
  • One year of responsible experience in providing security for a large facility; or
  • We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Required qualifications
  • The candidate selected for the position will need to pass a criminal background check prior to being hired. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude employment and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Human Performance Evaluation that simulates common physical tasks performed for this position prior to hire.
Special Requirements:
  • Has (or qualifies and completes) a DPSST Unarmed Security Professional Certification from the State of Oregon.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.

Working Conditions:

As a Relief Facility Security Agent, you will work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. The role requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and occasional running, as well as physical activities such as crawling, kneeling, and climbing. Candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks while maintaining a high level of awareness and responsiveness in dynamic situations.
