As our Director of Financial Operations, you will play a central role in ensuring the financial health and operational strength of the organization. Your leadership will guide the systems, processes, and insights that allow teams across the Symphony to make informed decisions and sustain our mission. Here's how you'll make a difference:
- Lead the day-to-day financial operations of the Symphony, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across accounting, reporting, and cash flow management.
- Oversee the monthly close process and deliver clear, insightful financial reporting that supports organizational decision-making.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Partner with leaders across departments to translate financial data into actionable insights, supporting planning, program decisions, and resource allocation.
- Drive the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting, aligning financial plans with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.
- Develop financial models, dashboards, and tools that enhance visibility into performance and support proactive planning.
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate required filings, including Form 990, in partnership with external auditors and the CFO.
- Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and policies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with the CFO and cross-functional partners (HR, IT, Facilities) to ensure alignment across operational and financial systems.
- Provide leadership and guidance within the finance function, ensuring strong execution of day-to-day operations and responsiveness to organizational needs.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, FP&A, or nonprofit finance, including managing financial operations in a complex, multi-revenue-stream environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards, with experience overseeing audits, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and business partnering skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial and business systems, including accounting software, databases (e.g., Tessitura), payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.

Status and Work Environment:
This is a full-time, exempt position currently following a hybrid work model with 2–3 days per week in the office.
Salary Range: $100k - $110k/year
