Quality Inspector - CMM

Description:

This is a long-term Onsite role in Tualatin, OR 97062.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Incoming Quality Inspector with strong CMM programming and GD&T expertise to support inspection operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role will focus on incoming inspection, metrology, supplier quality verification, and quality data analysis, ensuring that components meet engineering specifications before entering production. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Zeiss CMM systems, deep knowledge of GD&T interpretation, and the ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on CMM programming and operation experience (Zeiss preferred).
  • Experience with Mitutoyo or Hexagon CMM systems is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in GD&T interpretation and mechanical inspection.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools and metrology equipment.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills.
  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Equivalent experience (10+ years in hands-on metrology/IQA) will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming inspection using precision measurement equipment including CMM (Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon), optical comparators, micrometers, height gauges, and surface roughness testers.
  • Program and operate CMM inspection routines to validate complex machined components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ANSI standards.
  • Prioritize urgent inspection requests such as line-down situations and material purges.
  • Conduct source inspections and calibration audits at supplier locations.
  • Document non-conforming materials and collaborate with Supplier Quality and Manufacturing teams on resolution.
  • Support engineering teams by measuring and analyzing suspect parts.
  • Lead Incoming Quality inspection planning and ensure SLA adherence.
  • Maintain calibration schedules and metrology equipment readiness.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001 / AS9100).
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics and dashboards using SAP and Power BI.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across global quality teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis.
  • Experience mentoring junior inspectors or leading quality activities.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Power BI, and quality analytics reporting.
