Litigation Paralegal


A growing legal team is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys working both independently and collaboratively, and is skilled at managing complex casework with minimal oversight.


Key Responsibilities


Case Management & Document Handling

  • Conduct initial case reviews and help attorneys assess case posture.
  • Prepare case summaries, timelines, and basic pleadings.
  • Manage the intake, organization, and tracking of client documents.

Discovery Support

  • Draft discovery requests and responses for attorney review.
  • Coordinate document production, ensure completeness of responses, and interface with clients to gather relevant materials.
  • Attend document productions and support ongoing discovery needs.

Depositions

  • Schedule and coordinate depositions for fact and expert witnesses.
  • Draft deposition outlines, pull potential exhibits, and prepare material for attorney review.
  • Attend depositions and create summary transcripts.
  • Arrange court reporters, videographers, and related logistics.

Litigation Support & Research

  • Build and maintain litigation support databases either internally or with outside vendors.
  • Oversee document imaging, deposition summaries, and search functions within databases.
  • Conduct factual research, public record searches, and summarize medical and employment records.

Trial Preparation

  • Assist with preparation of trial binders, exhibits, jury instructions, and witness/exhibit lists.
  • Coordinate equipment needs and offsite trial operations.
  • Support attorneys with drafting outlines, preparing witnesses, and participating in trial-related activities.

Post‑Trial Assistance

  • Assist with drafting various post‑trial motions, cost memoranda, and appellate support materials.
  • Help assemble excerpts of record and perform necessary cite checking.


Qualifications

  • 3–10 years of paralegal experience, preferably with a strong litigation background.
  • Prior trial experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating complex document‑heavy cases or class actions is beneficial.
  • Strong familiarity with Oregon State and Federal Courts and local procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, online research tools, and litigation software (e.g., Relativity, LiveNote, Trial Director or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external partners while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple competing deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and manage physical and digital files.


Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred.
