Overview:

ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client. This Mechanical Engineer 2 will perform and review mechanical system designs for transmission-related facilities while supporting projects through scoping, design, and construction. The role coordinates project requirements, resources, schedules, and cost estimates, and provides technical oversight to ensure quality and compliance. Responsibilities include reviewing designs and specifications, resolving engineering issues, and supporting construction activities. The position requires a PE license, knowledge of regional transmission systems, experience with NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, and UPC codes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA.

Pay Rate: $34.2 - $48.87

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and proposes resource needs for scoping (preliminary engineering and design), design and construction oversight.
  • Reviews and determines project requirements with scoping results.
  • Coordinates and participates in project kick-off meetings to discuss necessary resources and review project requirements.
  • Interprets program, and project requirements by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management.
  • Identifies engineering problems and ensures solutions are implemented.
  • Facilitates across all disciplines for project scope refinement and associated preliminary engineering.
  • Facilitates the completion of project cost estimates.
  • Evaluates scoping and design schedules while monitoring project progress to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
  • Evaluates design quality through technical review of project design, specifications, plan and schedule, and recommending actions to assure minimal design modifications during construction.
  • Coordinates technical and design support requests as needed during the construction phase.
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes project issues and trends to recommend actions.
  • Prepares project statements of works, progress reports, technical reports, evaluations, and other documents as required.
  • Acts as a central coordinator, facilitator and resolver for all technical aspects of a project.
  • Performs design of mechanical systems for in-house projects, as well as performs review of contracted out design.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (from an ABET accredited school), Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management or a directly related field is required
  • 5 years of engineering experience is required.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission systems is required.
  • Experience with codes & standards (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, UPC)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software including Word, Blue Beam, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • PE License
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
