This position is primarily remote with occasional travel required. It supports projects in Northern California.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop overall design for project.Direct staff to complete design and technical drawings; review drawings of junior designers.Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with the design solution.Work with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawings.Ensure technical adherence to office and firm‑wide standards by providing a technical viewpoint on projects.Direct staff to complete construction documents; review CDs for compliance with firm standards, mechanical and building systems, codes and ADA requirements; provide technical solutions for design dilemmas.On larger projects, manage through the contract administration phase.Coordinate engineering consultants to ensure design solution compliance and timely submission of documents.Research and select fixtures and finishes; obtain client approval and integrate them into overall design.Produce, review and finalize space plans.Apply extensive detailing knowledge and finalize details.Develop and deliver overall design and furniture packages; produce final cost estimates.Manage overall design budget; ensure adherence and report any variances to the Project Manager or client.Manage work of other designers and technical staff; oversee tasks and provide feedback.Organize and conduct client interviews to determine space needs and technical requirements; continuously provide needed information on design specifications.QualificationsGraduate of architecture or design school (equivalent experience may be substituted).12+ years of experience in corporate interior design projects.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of design principles and standards.Advanced documentation and field observational skills.Expert interior architecture detailing skills.Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures.Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirements.Extensive knowledge of space requirements.Extensive knowledge of contract administration.Extensive knowledge of design principles and aesthetics.Extensive knowledge of space planning methodology.Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes.Proficient with furniture layout concepts.Expert sketching and rendering skills.Intermediate MS Office Suite skills.Advanced Revit skills.Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills.Extensive verbal and written communication skills.Extensive presentation and graphic communication skills.Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through direct authority and subject‑matter expertise.Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints.Equal Opportunity EmploymentInterior Architects, Inc.
