Overview We're looking for a full-stack engineer who's most excited about backend systems, data modeling, and infrastructure. You'll join a small, collaborative team that builds the technology behind Drug Hunter's platform.This role is mostly remote, but our team gets together periodically in person to plan, collaborate, and build together. We're a small group, so everyone wears multiple hats and contributes where the need is greatest. Your focus will be on backend-related projects such as APIs, data integrations, and infrastructure.Responsibilities Design and develop APIs and backend services (NestJS/Node.js, Python)Implement and maintain data models and integrations between systemsBuild and manage background job queues (BullMQ, Redis)Work across the stack when needed (e.g. connect backend APIs to front-end apps)Set up and maintain development and QA environments across the stackDeploy and operate services in Docker and KubernetesMonitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalabilityAutomate workflows and infrastructure tasks (Python, Bash)Collaborate on architecture for scalable, maintainable backend systemsRequirements Strong experience with modern backend frameworks (NestJS or similar)Solid understanding of API design and data modelingComfortable in Linux server environments and with containerizationExperience with relational databases (postgres)Hands-on experience with Docker and KubernetesProficient with JavaScript/TypeScript and some front-end exposure (React, Next.js, etc.)Strong Python scripting skills for automation and data tasksUnderstanding of environment management (dev, QA, prod)Nice to Have Experience with distributed systems, queues, and cachingCI/CD pipeline experienceCloud platform familiarity (AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean)ETL or data pipeline experienceReact Native Experience (Expo)Benefits Join a fast-growing company making a real impact in drug discoveryWork with a sharp, passionate, mission-driven teamShape the software development at a high-growth inflection pointCompetitive salary and equity, healthcare, 401(k), flexible PTO, and remote-friendly culturePortland, Oregon Metropolitan AreaWe're unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
