Unfortunately, due to the number of applications received, not all applicants will receive an interview.Résumés should include education, relevant experience (including current position), and skills which highlight the qualifications of the position to which a person is applying.All district employees are encouraged to review their personnel file periodically to ensure that their file includes current and relevant documentation that supports their education, experience, training, etc., as it relates to qualifications described on job postings.QUALIFICATIONS:* High school diploma or equivalent prefered.* Five years of experience as a School Bus Driver Trainer.* Possess or obtain CWU Pupil Transportation Management Program Certificate within four years of acquiring the position.* Ability to work independently and possess strong organizational skills.* Possess a valid Washington State Driver's Class A or B, P1S Commercial Driver's License and maintain and meet all qualifications in WAC 392-144.* Maintain a Washington State School Bus Driver's Certificate.* Current certification as a school bus driver trainer in the State of Washington and must maintain this certification.* Possess good verbal and written communication skills.* Ability to coordinate/schedule yearly driver recertification courses.* Ability to remain current on all safety procedures, regulations and laws.* Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Gmail, Synergy Student Data Systems, GPS and Google Documents.* Proficient with computers to maintain, track, and analyze data. Have the ability to manage reporting, documenting, and tracking.* Supervisory experience and/or demonstrated leadership ability.* Ability to sustain poise and confidence in managing emotional and difficult situations.* Ability to drive a school bus route at any time in emergency situations.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:* Ability to properly prepare paperwork necessary for driver certification in WAC 392-144-102.* Ability to communicate with a variety of people, in person, in written form and over the phone.* Ability to communicate readily and effectively with district wide staff, parents, and community.* Assist in monitoring all regular bus routes, schedules and stops for safety requirements.* Ability to effectively develop and conduct workshops and classroom training.* Ability to carry out on-scene accident investigations including visual observation, listening to witnesses, and identification of possible dangerous situations. Also the ability to train others in this process.* Investigate damages caused to buses with photos and necessary paperwork to insurance companies.* Administer OSPI certifications for all drivers in the online system, as well as the department system.* Ability to move around the office and transportation complex in order to deal with emergencies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Work in a flexible cooperative manner.* Maintain confidential records of all student, drivers and staff.* Prepare and assist with driver performance evaluations, conducting driving performance counseling, and daily route driving evaluations.* Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect at all times.* Serve as a positive role model.* Help to administer the Transportation Safety Program.* Supervise and evaluate Behind-the-Wheel Training staff.* Coordinate with Human Resources to screen, organize, and interview applicants for the position of school bus driver and transportation bus support.* Plan, coordinate and conduct entry level classroom trainings.* Conduct and instruct classroom, on-road instruction, and guidance in obtaining a Commercial Driver's License.* Maintain training records and certifications for all drivers.* Coordinate and schedule annual pre-trip assessments and on-the-road assessments of all sub bus drivers and regular drivers annually with Driver Trainers* Schedule, Coordinate and maintain all pertinent paperwork for the Federal drug testing program, involving CDL drivers.* Coordinate/Schedule meetings for the accident review committee. Provide recommendations and conduct remedial driver training.* Coordinate student management functions. Mentor drivers and assist with student management and problem-solving various situations.* Resolve parent complaints regarding drivers or bus issues by corresponding with principals, associate-principals, security personnel at all schools.* Process student incident reports.* Evaluate school bus stops and loading areas at schools for safety. Recommend addition or deletion of bus stops as needed.* Evaluate the safety and installation of wheelchairs and infant car seats used in buses.* Supervise and assist in conducting student emergency evacuation drills.* Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.* Assist Transportation Supervisor with weather and road conditions as needed.* Assist, implement, and train new safety technology in the Transportation Department.* Possess knowledge and ability to train employees on use of school bus communication devices.* Create, maintain, print and distribute department forms, documents, and spreadsheets as needed.* Possess knowledge and ability to use GPS systems and software.* Possess knowledge and ability to operate and train for use of the digital video systems.It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district.Benefits/Compensation:Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement. The accrual days are incrementally improved by five (5) days at the completion of five (5), eleven (11) and twenty (20) consecutive years of service respectively.
