Medical Science Liaison (MSL)
Field‑based, customer‑facing role in the Pacific Northwest (OR, WA, ID, AK). The MSL is a scientific expert in HIV treatment and prevention who engages healthcare providers, develops scientific strategy, and advances clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Build strong scientific acumen and serve as a primary point of contact for medical and scientific inquiries in HIV treatment and prevention.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with external experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
- Engage in clinical insights gathering—supporting product development, clinical trial design, and market strategies.
- Develop and deliver scientific presentations and training sessions for healthcare professionals and internal teams.
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory guidelines and company policies; maintain accurate records of interactions.
- Act as a role model of ViiV culture and values, mentor new or less experienced MSLs, and lead scientific or strategic projects.
- Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals as directed by Medical Affairs or R&D teams.
- Interface with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders—investigators, professional societies, advocacy groups, and formulary decision-makers.
- Assist in clinical development activities, including Investigator Sponsored Studies, and provide insights into research interests.
- Attend national and regional scientific/medical meetings to capture customer insights on products and disease states.
- Conduct business with a One‑ViiV mindset, regularly engaging across matrix stakeholders.
- Execute all responsibilities and training in a timely manner, including CRM updates and expense reporting.
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or APP).
- 3+ years of clinical experience in HIV or Infectious Disease.
- Stakeholder management experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to travel 40‑60%.
Preferred Qualifications
- HIV field medical experience in the U.S.
- Proven track record of high performance within Field‑Based Medical Affairs.
- Strong grounding in clinical, medical, and pharmaceutical science with rapid assimilation of detailed knowledge.
- Experience evaluating and effectively communicating evidence‑based medicine with strong presentation skills.
- Leadership experience, stakeholder management, and successful project participation.
- Excellence in mentoring fellow MSLs and leading complex field initiatives.
- Experience engaging effectively one‑on‑one and in group settings.
- Effective communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits
US annual base salary: $168,750 – $281,250 (varies by location and experience). The role offers an annual bonus, long‑term incentive program, health care and other insurance benefits, retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental leave.
