Engineering Project Manager – Industrial Engineering & Construction

Position Overview

An established engineering and construction organization is seeking a mid-to-senior level Engineering Project Manager to support the execution of complex industrial capital projects across multiple manufacturing sectors.

This individual will lead engineering coordination and technical execution for multidisciplinary projects in fast-paced industrial environments. The role requires close collaboration with project leadership, engineering teams, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful delivery of engineering scope, technical quality, and constructability.

Projects may include advanced manufacturing, process facilities, industrial production environments, and large-scale infrastructure upgrades.

This is a full-time, in-office position.

KEY RESONSIBILITIES:

Engineering & Technical Leadership

  • Lead engineering execution for industrial and manufacturing-related capital projects
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts including mechanical, process, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and structural disciplines
  • Review and validate technical designs, equipment selections, and engineering deliverables
  • Ensure engineering solutions support safe construction, startup, operability, and maintainability
  • Support technical decision-making and project risk mitigation

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Develop and manage engineering schedules, deliverables, and staffing plans
  • Track engineering progress and collaborate with project leadership to support overall project objectives
  • Assist with evaluating scope changes and technical impacts during project execution
  • Coordinate effectively between engineering, procurement, construction, and field teams

Client, Vendor & Field Interface

  • Serve as a primary technical contact for clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Review technical submittals, drawings, and vendor documentation
  • Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases
  • Participate in field walks and support issue resolution during active construction

Safety & Quality

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable industry standards and safety requirements
  • Support constructability reviews, quality initiatives, and hazard assessments
  • Promote strong safety-in-design principles throughout the project lifecycle

Team Development

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering staff
  • Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and engineering best practices
  • Opportunity to eventually supervise and develop a small engineering team

Preferred Experience

  • Heavy industrial or large-scale manufacturing project experience
  • Experience supporting projects in sectors such as:
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Industrial processing
  • Consumer products manufacturing
  • Energy or infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with industrial facility construction and EPC-style project execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Candidates with an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification who are willing to obtain their PE license within one year of hire will also be considered
  • 7+ years of progressive engineering and project execution experience in industrial environments
  • Experience managing engineering scope for capital projects within construction or manufacturing settings

Preferred Skills & Software

  • Bluebeam experience preferred
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Understanding of engineering deliverables, project workflows, and construction coordination

Work Environment

  • Full-time, in-office position
  • Combination of office and active industrial/construction site environments
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs
  • Ability to support field activities and site walkdowns as required
