Accounts Payable Supervisor

Location: NE Portland - hybrid work schedule

Salary: $70,000 - 95,000

This position serves as the operational leader for the accounts payable and disbursements functions of a large, complex organization. You will directly manage a localized accounting team while mentoring an offshore processing group in the Philippines. The role balances high-level financial oversight with the day-to-day execution of corporate disbursements.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Oversee and mentor four domestic Accounting Specialists and three offshore Accounts Payable Specialists, conducting bi-annual and annual performance reviews.
• Payment & Treasury Controls: Review and approve bank transaction payment journals, process ACH/wire transfers, perform strict verbal verifications, and manage weekly check printing and distribution.
• Journal & Ledger Approvals: Review and approve invoice journals, intercompany and related-party entries, and complex cost-share credit memos.
• Escalation & Dispute Resolution: Resolve escalated vendor issues, taking ownership of deep-dive reconciliations and complex account adjustments.
• Cash Flow & Aging Management: Manage and review corporate aging reports, distributing priorities to the team to optimize cash flow and vendor relations.
• Process Optimization: Lead departmental process improvement initiatives and collaborate with other corporate divisions to streamline cross-functional workflows.
• Specialized Accounting Tasks: Manage monthly rent posting from spreadsheets, coordinate quarterly promissory note payments, and run recurring specialized financial reports for marketing.
• Compliance & Data Integrity: Oversee vendor setup requests, collect and verify W-9 documentation, handle stop-payments, and lead year-end 1099 processing.

Requirements

• An excellent background in corporate accounting including full-cycle accounts payable management, with leadership experience.
• Proven experience managing or mentoring teams, exposure to overseeing offshore or remote personnel is a plus.
• Familiarity with intercompany accounting, related-party transactions, and complex ledger reconciliations.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successfully resolving sensitive vendor and internal escalations.
• Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central specifically is a plus.
• A grounded, professional attitude focused on accuracy, confidentiality, and team development.
