About the Opportunity

CV Resources is partnering with a well-known and beloved Portland organization to identify an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for an immediate contract opportunity. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, can quickly adapt to change, and is comfortable taking ownership of critical payroll functions with minimal supervision.

The organization is currently undergoing significant transition within its payroll department and needs a seasoned professional who can provide stability, accuracy, and expertise during this period.

Key Responsibilities

• Process biweekly and/or periodic payroll for a large and diverse employee population
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for both full-time and part-time employees
• Review payroll transactions, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit withholdings
• Audit payroll data and resolve discrepancies
• Partner with HR, Finance, and operational leaders to address payroll-related issues
• Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Assist with payroll process improvements and documentation as needed
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and timely manner

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience
• Strong end-to-end payroll processing expertise
• Experience in high-volume payroll environments
• UKG experience strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and prioritize competing deadlines
• Comfortable navigating organizational change and ambiguity
• Professional, adaptable, and resilient under pressure
