The Assistant General Manager is a key leadership position responsible for supporting the overall operation, performance, and guest experience of a Staybridge Suites hotel operating under IHG Hotels & Resorts brand standards.
This role works closely with the General Manager to ensure excellence in daily operations, financial performance, guest satisfaction, and associate development in a premium extended-stay environment.
Staybridge Suites is positioned as an upscale extended-stay brand, and this role requires a polished, hands-on hospitality leader capable of maintaining brand standards, driving service excellence, and supporting a high-performing, guest-focused culture.
The AGM is expected to maintain a strong on-property presence, lead by example, and independently manage operational areas as assigned.
• Assist in overseeing all hotel departments including front office, housekeeping, breakfast, evening social (The Social), and maintenance. • Maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel and actively engage with guests and associates. • Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled and assume full operational responsibility in the absence of the General Manager. • Support execution of all Staybridge Suites brand standards and operational procedures. • Conduct daily walkthroughs of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards are met. • Assist with resolution of guest concerns, with a focus on long-stay guest satisfaction and retention.
• Deliver a high-level, residential-style guest experience consistent with IHG Hotels & Resorts and Staybridge Suites brand expectations. • Support monitoring and improvement of guest satisfaction scores and online reputation. • Build rapport with extended-stay guests, corporate travelers, relocation guests, and long-term stays. • Ensure consistency in service delivery across all guest touchpoints including suites, breakfast, and social areas.
• Assist in monitoring daily financial performance, including revenue, labor, and operational expenses. • Support budget execution and monthly forecasting processes. • Help ensure accurate billing, credit compliance, and proper handling of extended-stay accounts. • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost control.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with key corporate accounts and long-term stay partners. • Participate in property tours, client visits, and local business engagement activities. • Support revenue strategies in collaboration with the General Manager and revenue management partners.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of hotel associates in alignment with IHG Hotels & Resorts and Staybridge Suites standards. • Provide coaching, feedback, and day-to-day leadership to departmental teams. • Help reinforce accountability, service standards, and professional behavior across all departments. • Support training efforts through IHG University and brand training systems.
• Assist in maintaining the physical condition of the hotel at an upscale Staybridge Suites standard. • Support preventative maintenance programs and property inspections. • Ensure guest suites, public areas, breakfast space, fitness center, and social areas meet brand quality expectations. • Assist in maintaining safety, security, and compliance standards.
• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, operational SOPs, and company policies. • Support preparation for brand audits and operational reviews. • Assist in maintaining required documentation and reporting for hotel operations. • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• 2–4+ years of hotel operations or supervisory leadership experience preferred • Experience in extended-stay or upscale select-service hotels strongly preferred • Strong understanding of front office and guest service operations • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a hands-on hospitality environment • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays • Familiarity with IHG systems, standards, or brand operations preferred but not required
This role requires active, on-property involvement in daily hotel operations. The Assistant General Manager is expected to maintain a strong presence in guest areas and support all departments in delivering a high-quality, upscale extended-stay experience.
