POSITION OVERVIEWThe role of a Seasonal Van Driver is to safely transport Wayfinders cohort participants and staff to and from site tour trip location sites. In addition to transporting youth safely, Van Drivers must attend the tour and strive to arrive on time at all sites/locations.ESSENTIAL DUTIESPassion and interest in supporting science and environmental learning opportunities for underrepresented youthCulturally competent- experience working with children of color from diverse backgroundsTransport youth safely to and from tour sites / locationsUnload, load and clean van on the day of the tripAvailability to re-fuel the day before the tour (paid time)Re-fuel at the conclusion of the tripSafely park the vehicleEnsure health and safety of participants (including emotional, and physical wellbeing), ensure youth are safe, stay on task and are respectful during transportationEnforce rules and behavioral expectations as needed, follow behavioral management and safety protocols before departing for field tripsCommunicate professionally and in a timely manner with all ELSO Incorporated staff and Studio Justice Program DirectorClose attention to details which include time management (staying on schedule)Report all accidents, problems, and successes to the Program Director (maintain and complete a daily log)Experience or interest in driving a 12-passenger van, 15-passenger van, or an electric vehicleREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMust be able to pass a background check as required by the Oregon Department of Education for positions that work directly with youth (Oregon State Department of Education Disqualifying Crimes 342.143)Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record for 1 year prior to applicationMust have clean background checkMust be at least 25 years old to applyVolunteer and/or work experience with driving 15 passenger vansPlease Note: Flexibility in working dates is required.
