Assistant General Manager

We're searching for a passionate Assistant General Manager to help lead our Old Town store in Portland. As the Assistant General Manager, you'll have the opportunity to help build and shape the brand's presence in Portland, while also delivering the iconic doughnut experience that Voodoo Doughnut is known for. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities outlined in the job posting, you'll also be responsible for assisting the General Manager with hiring and training the team.

As the ideal candidate, you're currently an experienced manager (Assistant General Manager experience is preferred but not required), with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, creating and executing successful marketing plans, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. To qualify for this position, you should have at least 2 years of experience in restaurant management or bakery production. You should have experience with ordering and inventory systems and understand how to help run a guest-focused business. Additionally, you should have a flexible schedule, reliable transportation, and be able to handle physical requirements such as lifting heavy objects and working with cleaning chemicals.

Responsibilities
  • Support overall operations of your shop, provide mentorship and guidance for all team members
  • Be a pillar of information about everything Voodoo Doughnut
  • Partner with General Manager to work schedules, cash management, and improve overall guest experience
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a team of doughnut makers and service staff
  • Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Foster a positive work environment, providing coaching and feedback to team members
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the food or hospitality industry
  • Proven ability to help lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong business acumen, with experience assisting with budget management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for great doughnuts and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • A strong work ethic, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions quickly and decisively
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as needed
