Police Officer - Portland, Oregon

Performs general police duties, processes, and operations for the protection of life and property and enforces federal, state, and local laws, prevents crime, and preserves peace in a railroad surface transportation environment.

Essential functions include the safety and protection of all persons, including passengers, employees, and property. Patrol duties on foot and in a police vehicle, security and safety activities at incidents, responding to call for service and assistance, arrests and investigations, first aid, proficiency and operation of police equipment, and communication with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.

Minimum qualifications include a valid Basic Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training police officer certification, one year of full-time equivalent work experience as a certified law enforcement professional, a high school diploma or GED, ability to pass a physical agility test, interview, psychological examination, background investigation, polygraph exam, and job-related physical examination, and ability to obtain a railroad police commission from the State of Oregon.
