Job Description

The Department Assistant III performs a variety of secretarial and responsible clerical functions, and acts as resource to staff, patients, families and public regarding assigned areas of responsibilities. Additionally, this position supports the department director in completion of administrative tasks and departmental operations. Shriners Portland is looking for a Department Assistant III to support the Radiology Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs responsible clerical support for the Diagnostic Imaging manager and support staff
  • Performs a variety of general clerical support functions to ensure the smooth flow of work within the department
  • Answers telephone, directs calls to appropriate individuals or department, takes and conveys clear messages, and prioritizes incoming calls for the Diagnostic Imaging manager
  • Maintains sign-in and sign-out record of films out of the department or file area with guidelines
  • Maintains departmental files and record keeping systems
  • Tracking imaging procedures done at outside medical facilities/imaging centers
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • One year of experience in a health-care office setting
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Multi-line telephone experience
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Bilingual English/ Spanish
The pay range for this position is $24.16 - $36.23. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
