Job Title: General Production WorkerJob Description
This role focuses on supporting production by cleaning and staging finished products in the shipping area, then performing mechanical operations such as measuring, cutting, bending, and assembling piping products. You will handle materials, pick parts, and use various hand and power tools to help ensure high-quality fabricated metal components are produced efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Clean and stage the shipping area with finished products during the initial phase of employment (approximately 2-4 days).
- Measure, bend, cut, and assemble final piping products according to specifications and instructions.
- Perform basic mechanical operations on fabricated metal components using grinding and polishing equipment.
- Use hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and hammers, to complete production tasks safely and accurately.
- Handle materials and perform part picking to ensure the correct components are available for production and assembly.
- Operate general production and basic machine equipment as needed within the manufacturing process.
- Read and interpret tape measurements and basic instructions to maintain accuracy and consistency in production work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with facility standards.
- Collaborate with team members and follow direction to meet production goals and quality standards.
Essential Skills - Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical operations.
- Experience using hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and hammers.
- Previous production or manufacturing experience.
- Capability to perform grinding, deburring, and general production tasks.
- Ability to operate basic machines and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work intelligently and efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications - Experience working with metal fabrication processes such as grinding and polishing.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading or working from basic drawings and specifications.
- Comfort working with saws and other cutting equipment in a production setting.
- Experience in general labor roles within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new tools and processes.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.

Work Environment The role is based in a very clean production area located directly next to a cleanroom. This is not a traditional machine shop; instead, you work on a tiled floor in a smaller, controlled room equipped with grinding and polishing equipment for fabricated metal components. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with regular use of hand and power tools and basic machinery. You can expect a structured manufacturing setting focused on precision work with metal parts, with appropriate work attire suitable for a production and fabrication environment.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.20/hr.
