Job Summary

University Relations is looking for a creative, organized, and dependable student to support the production of a University Relations podcast. The Student Podcast Production Assistant will help turn recorded conversations into polished, engaging podcast episodes that highlight the people, and stories connected to the University of Portland community.

This is a great opportunity for a student interested in communications, media production, storytelling, marketing, journalism, or digital content creation to gain hands-on experience working on a professional podcast.

Shift times may vary. You will report to the Associate Director of Constituent Engagement, Student Programs and Young Alumni to help with scheduling.

Core Duties

  • Edit recorded podcast episodes into polished, engaging final products
  • Clean up audio, remove unnecessary sections, and improve overall sound quality
  • Add introductions, transitions, music, and other podcast elements as needed
  • Organize and manage podcast audio files and project materials
  • Work with University Relations staff to incorporate feedback and make revisions
  • Help prepare episodes for publication
  • Meet established deadlines for episode production
  • Maintain consistent organization and communication throughout the editing process
  • Assist with other podcast-related projects and digital content as needed
Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate is:
  • Dependable and able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Organized and able to manage multiple steps of a project independently
  • Comfortable learning and using audio/video editing software
  • Detail-oriented and able to recognize opportunities to improve audio and storytelling
  • A strong communicator who is comfortable asking questions and receiving feedback
  • Interested in storytelling, communications, media, marketing, journalism, or digital content
  • Able to work independently while also collaborating with University Relations staff
Preferred Qualifications

Previous podcast or audio editing experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right student who demonstrates strong attention to detail, creativity, and a willingness to learn
