You will have many varying responsibilities. First and foremost, you will support a judge in a courtroom by performing real-time data entry as well as knowing your docket inside and out to respond to questions from the judge, other court staff, and court participants. The High-Volume Clerks unit works with a variety of case types ranging from criminal, traffic, parking, domestic relations, stalking, small claims, and landlord/tenant. Prior to and during your assigned docket, you will be required to review case files, prepare court forms, and make note of any pertinent information related to each case. All of these tasks require attention-to-detail and the ability to navigate multiple computer programs at the same time, while also keeping an eye on what is happening in the courtroom. After the docket, you will be required to audit your work and ensure that all data entry was completed with 100% accuracy, including scheduling hearings, recalling warrants, routing paperwork, suspending or clearing drivers' license suspensions, generating judgments, and issuing show-cause actions when appropriate.
When you are not in the courtroom, you will provide administrative support in partnership with other court staff. This work includes performing complex data entry, processing documents filed with the court, downloading and verifying virtual court recordings, maintain multiple calendars, schedule hearings, and entering dispositions and sentences. You will also compose letters, prepare correspondence and legal documents, and review documents for accuracy and completeness. Part of your time will be spent maintaining and contributing to tracking databases, arranging for court interpreters, and serving as a technical resource for colleagues.
Additionally, you will provide customer service to judges, court staff, lawyers, litigants, partner agencies, and the public as a key part of this position.
