Inventory Specialist

Actalent is currently seeking a qualified inventory specialist for a position in Vancouver, WA.

This Inventory Specialist will support the Fleet Management (NSF) group at the Bonneville Power Administration. This assignment involves identifying, researching, sourcing, receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking repair parts, materials, tools, and equipment. Such work requires knowledge of the kinds of tools, parts, and equipment in stock and how to locate them, and an ability to identify and issue specific items requested by end users. This assignment will also serve as a parts runner picking up orders in the local area from various vendors and suppliers. They may be required to conduct annual or periodic inventory at various maintenance shops within the BPA service area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support a variety of parts and material needs for small electric vehicles, construction equipment to line trucks and aerial devices.
  • Perform OEM and aftermarket parts research, VIN/serial number lookup, mechanic support, vendor coordination, order tracking, returns, credits, warranty items, core returns, stockroom organization and inventory control.
  • Serve as a parts runner picking up merchandise from local warehouses, manufacturers and retail stores.
  • Monitor and track parts/material orders;
  • Resolve order delays, issues, or client questions;
  • Provide recommendations for the improvement of organizational processes, procedures, and practices.
  • Receive, verify, stage and keep stock of incoming shipments and materials.
  • Check and record the quantity of merchandise for conformity to purchase orders.
  • Track items in the stock room through proper organization and labeling.
  • Record and report shortages and discrepancies.
  • Issue required components and materials as requested.
  • Communicate over the phone, in person or through email to coordinate returns, rejections and credits.
  • Pickup/Deliver vehicles to/from internal customers or external vendors (i.e. dropping GSA vehicle off at vendor for Upfit, etc.).
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, secure and safe parts area.
  • Perform data entry and parts and materials research.
  • May perform inventory support at BPA shops within the BPA service area on an annual or sporadic basis.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Inventory Management, Inventory Control, Purchasing, Computerized Logistics or related field is preferred.
  • With a Bachelor's degree in applicable fields, 6 months of supply chain and/or logistics experience is required.
  • With an Associate's degree in applicable fields, 2 years of supply chain and/or logistics experience is required.
  • Without a degree or with a degree not in applicable fields, 4 years of supply chain and/or logistics experience is required
  • Note: This position may not perform material handler duties (craft) such as operating material handler equipment and/or forklift, working around high-voltage equipment, working with machinery with moving parts, working on scaffolding, motorized buckets, etc.
  • 3 years of experience in automotive warehouse operations, including OEM/aftermarket parts identification, VIN and serial number research, electronic parts catalogs, Fleet maintenance practices, equipment identification, parts sourcing, vendor coordination, inventory systems and customer support.
  • Knowledge of shop safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in Fleet maintenance organizations, automotive dealerships, heavy-duty truck dealerships, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, utility fleets, municipal/public fleets, and direct mechanic support
  • Experience with Asset Suite Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
