Job Summary As a Routesetter with Movement, you'll be joining a collaborative, innovative, and passionate team of setters to develop high-quality, safe, and engaging climbs for our community. This opportunity is for a creative and hard-working individual with some setting experience (2 years or less), either through Movement's Routesetting Apprenticeship Program or other setting environment. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Setting or Head Routesetter of your home gym, you'll be responsible for managing the workflow of your day in an efficient and productive manner.F3 Routesetter: Minimal experience. Contribute to the team by efficiently stripping and setting an equitable number of climbs, assisting in work zone setup, strictly following safety and operational procedures, and actively engaging in purposeful feedback exchanges.What you'll be doing: Prepare setting area (boundaries, fixed lines, etc.)Strip wall sections to prepare for new routes/problemsSet high quality skeletons (first draft of a climb) on all types of terrainMaintain tidy setting area throughout the day, and help clean the area at the end of the dayAdhere to and promote workplace safety expectations (Work at Height standards, etc.)Forerunning(i.e. climbing)Climb product to help the routesetting team grade the routes/problems that are set each dayBe open to feedback and willing to perform as directedYour climbing will help the setting team ensure all routes and problems are safe, can be executed in a manner that is appropriate for the assigned grade, and that are accessible to a wide range of customersWork collaboratively with the setting team to complete off the wall tasks in the absence of the Head RoutesetterAdditional tasks and projects may be assigned, including but not limited to: assist anchor/safety inspections, setting of boards and training equipment, setting for and participation in activations, customer engagement, or attendance of Routesetting department meetingsWhat success looks like: You're reliably setting high quality skeletons, forerunning, and grading routes/problems effectivelyYou're able to operate independently once guidance is providedYou've demonstrated efficiency and creativity, with an openness to constructive feedback from fellow team members and the Movement communityYou understand Movement's quality of product and aesthetic standardsYou consistently meet production quota for routes and boulders on all terrain typesWhat you'll bring with you Gotta have: You must be 18 years of age or olderSome experience on a route setting team, either through Movement's Routesetting Apprenticeship Program or other setting environmentStrong understanding of Work at Height standards and other workplace safety expectationsStrong desire to further explore the craft of routesettingAbility to thrive in a team-oriented and collaborative environmentSolid work ethic and the ability to manage your own workflowAttention to detailThe ability to communicate effectively – communication is your jam and you do well with constructive feedbackThe ability to always follow and promote safe practicesBonus points for: Lead climbing proficiencyAbility to climb at least 5.11 and/or V5We believe that a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences make our team stronger.
