Sterile Processing Technician

Description:

Surgical Technician OR (Full Time, DayShift) - 3x 12hour Shifts

We are seeking experienced OR Surgical Technicians to support a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit on a per diem basis. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about supporting safe and effective surgical care.

Schedule: Day Shift | 7:00 AM 7:30 PM |.9FTE

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures
  • Assist the surgical team during obstetric procedures, including cesarean deliveries
  • Handle and pass surgical instruments accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure proper sterilization and functionality of all instruments and equipment
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly
  • Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments
  • Support patient care activities under the direction of the RN when not in the OR
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing and pharmacy
  • Follow all infection control and safety protocols
  • Assist with triaging and urgent (STAT) support as needed
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • National certification from CBSPD or HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association), formerly IAHCSMM, is required at time of hire.
  • Two years experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute care center with primary responsibility for instrumentation processing and sterilization.
  • Experience in a hospital setting required (internship/externship experience alone will not be considered)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation
  • Ability to work days, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a high-volume OR environment
  • Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems
  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
