The Senior Safety System Coordinator leads and supports TriMet's agency-wide systems and occupational health and safety programs, promoting a culture of safety for employees and contractors.
They perform journey-level work to help ensure that TriMet maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The Senior Safety System Coordinator supports each agency function in identifying hazards, assisting in developing mitigation strategies and conducting system assurance audits to support the communications between front-line employees and management to assure agency commitment to safety remains as a core value, which guides all aspects of our work.
Other duties may include leading and supporting TriMet's Engineering and Construction Division in all aspects of its Construction Safety Programs, including accomplishing safety certification program goals from design to construction and commissioning on various projects throughout the TriMet system. The Senior Safety System Coordinator provides guidance to System Safety Specialists and assists department leadership with safety management system initiatives and goals.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.
Essential Functions
Position Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, Aviation, Transportation, Risk Management, Industrial or Occupational Health is preferred.
A Master's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, Aviation, Transportation, Risk Management , Science, Public Health, Industrial or Occupational Health or any a related field is preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years total credited experience are required.*
Four (4) years of experience in safety within transit, manufacturing, change management, large industrial/manufacturing operations or a similar industry are required.
Four (4) years of experience in the safety field, including: transportation, commuter or heavy rail, fleet safety, aviation, manufacturing, construction, oil and gas safety, public health, or other another applicable dedicated safety job role, are preferred.
Four (4) years of experience in safety management systems, change management, industrial hygiene, ISO lead auditor, project management, data analytics, six sigma, kaizen or lean manufacturing are preferred.
A TSSP - Transit Safety and Security Program (Bus and Rail) certification is required within 3 years of hire.
An ARM, OHST, CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP or CIH (Professional Safety Certification), OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Industry Training, OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry, OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction, or HAZWOPER Certification is preferred.
A current valid driver's license with clean driving record is required.
Or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range
Minimum: $81,948.00
Maximum: $122,923.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
