The Operator will be based out of Portland Terminal. The Technical Operator is responsible for providing support for Terminal operations residing in Portland, OR. The role will participate as an integral team member and will be a key contributor to the organization from a support capacity. A successful Operator has a positive attitude and an aptitude for learning. A Technical Training Program is available.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Coordinating activities as needed to assist in the receipt, storage and delivery of petroleum products.
  • Performing operational duties in accordance with Phillips 66 operating and procedures guides and local operating procedures guides.
  • Identifying and promptly communicating operational and equipment problems and completing trouble reports.
  • Performing troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations and replacement of equipment as necessary.
  • Performing equipment monitoring and maintenance documentation.
  • Monitoring and enforcing safety rules.
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibrations and submitting appropriate reports in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with construction and maintenance projects.
  • Writing and reviewing work permits associated with construction or maintenance in operating areas.
  • Supervising and providing direction to contract crews.
  • Completing and maintaining required safety and regulatory training.
  • Acquiring operator qualifications, as required.
  • Performing environmental and regulatory inspections (eliminating, containing and reporting all product seeps and spills).
  • Complying with all applicable OSHA safety regulations to include P66 safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining facility emergency equipment.
  • Identifying and pursuing improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to report within 1 hour to work location.

  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • To raise and transport articles weighing up to 50 pounds
    • To climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment are a part of this position. The ladders and stairs range from 5 to 40 feet in height
    • To walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain
    • To work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
    • To work overtime or shift work on an as-needed basis
    • To respond to emergency calls as needed 
    • To work alone a high percentage of the time 
    • To work outside in harsh weather conditions 
    • To work with hydrocarbons that are under high pressure and heat
    • To wear personal protective equipment (such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
    • To maintain your face so that a respirator / face mask can seal properly, (i.e. to be clean shaven (facial hair), 
    • To perform emergency response duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation or Industrial Electronics
  • 1 or more years of terminal operations experience in oil and gas industry
  • 2 or more years of marine operations
  • Intermediate proficiency on MS Office and SAP
  • Completed emergency response (ICS) training
  • Working knowledge of general pipeline
  • Mechanical and rotating equipment experience
  • Meter Proving experience
  • Accuload III experience
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC's
  • Experience with Rosemount Transmitters
  • Experience with OMNI flow computer
